Why Buhari prefers UK for his annual medical checkups – Aide

Since the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, was elected, he had made it an annual routine to be going to the United Kingdom for his medical check-up, leaving Nigeria’s health department to degrade at an overwhelming rate. Since his appointment, he has gone to the United Kingdom for consecutive 10 times.

His last visit, which was around last week will make it the 12th time, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has neglected his country for another foreign country that has a better health care infrastructure and facilities.

Even though, till now, we haven’t ascertained the real reason behind his travels to the United Kingdom for check-ups and he has not disclosed if he has a terminal disease like the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who died of kidney failure before the appointment of the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

We can remember that President was a retired Major General and as such, he has been to several wars and he has witnessed different coups against Presidency. In a war, it’s either you shoot or you get shot at and most times, in a war or a coup, there are usually heavy injuries that can endanger one’s life in the future or cause serious organ dysfunction.

This is the exact rundown of President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical checkups. The First one was eight months after Muahmmadu Buhari became President of Nigeria – on February 5, 2016, he travelled to UK for his first medical checkup, claiming it was a holiday and he returned on February 10, 2016.

His second one was from 6th to 19th July 2016 and this time, he went to the United Kingdom, London on sick leave. The third one was from 7th May to 13th August 20, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari went to London on sick leave.

It was during this trip, Nigerians heard rumors of rodents alias rats taking over the president’s office in Aso Rock. The fourth one was from 21st to 25th September 2017, the 78-year-old Nigerian leader took another trip to the United Kingdom, London for a medical checkup and he also lied about this one.

He said that he was going for a holiday, which the President goes for holidays in another country, leaving his duties in the hands of his Vice, who doesn’t deserve to go on such trips. The fifth one is from 1st to 2nd May 2018, President Buhari went to London on transit, which is another lie because it was clearly about her health.

The sixth one is from 8th to 18th May 2018, the current president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari couldn’t hide this one as he said that, he is going to visit London to see doctors. The seventh one is from 3rd to 13th August 2018, President Buhari lied that, he is going to London for holiday but it was a medical checkup.

The eighth one is from 25th April to 5th May 2019, President Buhari lied that, he is going for a private trip to London. The ninth one is from 2nd till 17th November 2019, President Buhari traveled to the United Kingdom for a ‘private visit’.

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria flew to London for a medical check-up on 30th March 2021 for two weeks and that was his tenth one. His last and 11th one was on Monday, two days ago. All these are being proven by the former president-elect, Reno Omokri, who bases in United Kingdom, London, and watches Buhari’s medical checkups closely.

According to The Punch, The Special Adviser to the President, Major Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has disclosed the reason why his boss chooses the UK of all countries to go for his check-ups. He said that President Muhammadu Buhari goes to the UK because they have his medical records, dating back to 40 years. He made this statement while addressing the question of why President Muhammadu Buhari couldn’t be treated in Nigeria on Channels Television.

His full statement said, “President Buhari has been with the same doctors and medical team for upward of 40 years,” he said when asked why the President couldn’t have been treated in Nigeria.

“It is advisable that he continues with that who knows his medical history and that is why he comes to London to see them. He has used the same medical team for over 40 years. Once you can afford it, then stay with the team that has your history”.
