The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cubana group, Obi Iyiegbu popularly known as as Obi Cubana, has been the talk of the town since he threw a lavish burial ceremony for his mother last weekend at his hometown in Oba, Anambra State. Till this day, the burial ceremony is still stuck on the lips of several Nigerians because of the non-stop spraying of money by prominent individuals in the society, who attended the burial ceremony of Obi Cubana mother’s burial to sympathize with their friend, brother and son, Obi Cubana.
The likes of Phyno, Davido, Don Jazzy and Orezi honoured the burial ceremony with their songs while influential people like Cubana Chief Priest, E-money, Kanayo .O. Kanayo, Alex Ekubo, Karowewa, Odumeje and several others honoured the burial ceremony with their money as they played with it, fought with it, flooded the swimming pool with it and threw it recklessly in the air.
In other news, Obi Cubana’s right hand and former manager of Cubana Group, Cubana Chief priest, revealed that, his village people are asking for 46 goats as part of tradition for contributing 46 cows to Obi Cubana mother’s burial and not dropping anything for his own people in Imo state, where he hails from. Obi Cubana also revealed in an interview with BBC Pidgin that, he wasn’t born rich but had to toil day and night selling mama puts in Abuja. “When I started, I was living in a single room with 4 guys and we didn’t have beds but small foams thrown on the ground”, he said.
He also said that, he made his first 1 million naira when he finished service in 1994, after working a contract job for a client, who paid him 600,000 naira, which he combined with his profits to complete it 1 million naira. His watch word is “work hard, work hard, even if you fail, get back up and continue”. It is rumored that, Obi Cubana has helped over 53 individuals from his hometown with businesses and trades that turned them into millionaires and billionaires hence, the lavish burial ceremony of his mother. The Motto of Obi Cubana’s business is, ‘The World is Yours’. He is married to a beautiful lawyer known as Ebele Iyiegbu aka Lush Eby and the marrow is blessed with four boys. Obi Cubana’s net worth is 500 million dollars which is equivalent to 50 trillion Naira.
Brief memoir of Obi Cubana
Obi Cubana was born on 12th April 1975 as Obinna Iyiegbu in Oba, Anambra State. He is the fourth child and last son of his parents. He had his primary and secondary school education in Central Primary School and Dennis Memorial Grammar School respectively, both in Anambra state. He graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Even with a degree in political science, he didn’t care so much about being a politician. He rose to stardom after he founded a club in Abuja called Ibiza in 2006, where fun seekers found refuge. Due to tremendous success of Ibiza club, he opened a hotel/club in Owerri that provides all-round entertainment and satisfaction in 2009. Today, he has opened several Cubana’s club all over the country and he is planning on establishing his club in Dubai and opening a Cubana Real estate company. His establishments currently are: Rolex Hotels, Cubana Leisure Outfits, Pablo Cubana, Crave Cubana, Grand Cubana Hotels, Opium Cubana, Cubana Night Clubs and Gustavo Cubana.
According to Gistreel, Obi Cubana had an interview with ThetattleRoomNg where he revealed to the on-air-personnel that, he met his wife when he was living in a one-room apartment. And that period, they were four in a room with nothing but flat foams on the ground.
